He was previously the offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans football team and was named interim head coach when Lane Kiffin left to become the Florida Atlantic University head coach. Sarkisian was hired as the Falcons' offensive coordinator in 2015, replacing Dirk Koetter. After one season as offensive coordinator and three seasons as head coach of USC, he was fired when he got into an altercation with police officers after being arrested for public intoxication while under contract with the Falcons.
